WEATHER - part 1: Lightening Bolts

We must allow the bolt of pain to strike us.
Remember, this is useful pain; lightening illuminates.

p7, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

So often in life events and emotions seem t come at us out of nowhere. These lightening bolts cans trike us down or bring our lives into focus with a brief illuminating flash, depending on how we view them.

When a spark or jolt of thought hits you—a feeling that you are about to think something, concentrate on that feeling. Let go of the need to translate it into words. Stay with the initial jolt rather than with the words. You will find that the entire idea is contained within that initial jolt. The words are a slow, cumbersome translation for the benefit of the thinking-mind. If you learn to “think” with the jolts rather than needing to translate into words, your mind will be freed of clutter without disregarding anything of value.

This jolt is like a seed. It contains within itself the entirety of the message. Any translation is a simplification of the original…if you pay attention to the words and not to the seed, you will lose most of the message. When you give up the words, you gain the ability to perceive more information from the seed. This seed contains many implications, many possible unfoldments, just as a child may have many possible futures depending on opportunities….

When you are able to tune in to the jolt, notice how different jolts or information seeds feel. their differences of feeling are a way for you to know them and read them, read with your feelings rather than with your logic. You will discover that each seed-feeling is complex and contains much information. You must learn to develop a high resolution of feeling—the ability to detect the slightest differences in feeling. The finer your ability the more information you will gain…

You must analyze or “see” these seed-feelings quickly because they last only a moment. These jolts are part of the interaction between the perception of the organism (person) and the resultant reaction of the cells of the body. It is part of the process of communication and it takes place on a much faster time scale than we are used to…

The seeds you will experience, the jolts…reveal paths to joy…They speak in a different language. They communicate with a different part of yourself. Their message is harmony.

These profound words are taken from p83-86 of Movements of Power by Bob Klein
